While most actresses would run at the mention of fast food, Jennifer Lawrence would come running from a million miles just to get a bite. A charming, witty, and the most relatable celebrity be it East or West, Lawrence is often known for her love for food and unusual food habits.
One might think that when Jennifer Lawrence got to wear charming vintage gowns for her role in American Hustle, she might be a bit careful when it comes to eating. But boy was everyone wrong, for the Oscar-winning actress went ahead destroying her costumes with Dorito Dust!
Jennifer Lawrence Dorito Obsession Destroyed Her American Hustle Costume
Jennifer Lawrence is indeed fond of food. Food is her ultimate go-to, no matter the occasion. However, this time her obsession with the popular fast-food snack Doritos made the life of her crew members somewhat of a nightmare.
The Oscar-nominated costume designer, Michael Wilkenson explained how he created a custom dress for Jennifer Lawrence’s character’s best moment in American Hustle. To showcase Rosalyn’s quirky personality, he went on to create a white low-cut, metallic jersey dress. Because the dress was supposed to get damaged by the champagne that Rosalyn spills on herself (as per the original storyline), Wilkinson constructed four varying versions of the dress.
“And I’m kind of glad we did, because Jennifer Lawrence is a very . . . let’s say . . . raw and intuitive young lady, and she’s not against eating Doritos and snack food in her costume. So we were glad that we had a couple [backups].”
While the dress was saved from champagne, Lawrence’s Dorito obsession did considerable damage that they had to change it. Fortunately for the Silver Linings Playbook actress, the dress wasn’t too expensive.
This Wasn’t The Only Time She Let Her Love For Food Get The Better Of Her
On more than one occasion Jennifer Lawrence has expressed her love for food, calling it her favorite time of the day. Detesting the word diet, Lawrence remains unabashed while calling pizza her fix for everything.
Be it potatoes, fries, bread, lasagna, or cheesesteak, the American Hustle star loves it all and would rather spend her time munching on her favorite foods than dieting. When during the 2014 Oscars Ellen DeGeneres had pizza delivered as a gig, most celebrities chose not to eat for fear of ruining their priceless dresses. But Jennifer Lawrence was quick to gobble up her slice without a plate or tissue while wearing an Oscar de la Renta gown.
Lawrence’s behavior may sound outlandish to most, but we applaud her for being vocal about having a positive relationship with food and being the role model that every young girl so deserves.
