Jamie Foxx glued his eyelids for the Academy Award-winning role in Ray

There are only a few actors who are greatly passionate about their roles in films, such that they can go to great lengths to attain perfection. They do not mind enduring discomfort or pain in the process, as the authentic portrayal of the role is a priority for them. One among them is the 55-year-old star Jamie Foxx.

As per reports by Thrillist, the ace actor-comedian had to go through a lot for his role in an Oscar-winning film. He had to lose 30 pounds to get the physique of a lean musician on-screen. Those who have done weight training know that losing or gaining this much amount of weight is a difficult task.

However, the actor did something more, which any actor would hardly do. The actor got his eyelids glued for capturing the blindness of great musician Ray Charles. When director Taylor Hackford suggested that he should glue his eyelids during filming, Foxx agreed without hesitation. During filming, he wore prosthetic eyelids modeled from his eyelids. The shoot would often last 14 hours a day, hence his eyes would remain glued for that period.

Talking to San Francisco Gate, Foxx shared his experience,

“It was like waiting in a doctor’s office. Do I have it, or do I not have it? Ray walks in and says ‘You know what, man, if you can play the blues, baby, you can do anything. Don’t worry about playing me.’ So he gets on one piano, I get on the other, and we start playing the blues back and forth.”
