Since the pre-production began back in April, fans have been asking for some plot details with James Gunn only giving an outline of the film. It looks like we finally have something on that.

Superman: Legacy Rumored Plot

According to Twitter scooper – Grace Randolph, the film will probably center around a conflict that has been happening in the middle east. Didn’t we already have that with Black Adam?

Our new Man of Steel has a way of stopping it, but his other superhero friends do not see eye to eye on this. The film will also be focusing on Superman’s foe Lex Luthor trying to negotiate peace in his own way.

Fans Call The James Gunn’s Vision A Cliché

Randolph also shared that the film will showcase a similar political commentary that we had with James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Conflict in the middle is what kick-started the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s journey with RDJ’s Iron Man back in 2008. Exploring the already exhausted theme for a fresh beginning can be tricky and is definitely a hard Cliché, according to the fans.

What More Does James Gunn Have In Store For The Fans?

Earlier this month, Gunn also stated that he won’t be going down an “origin” path for the characters as we’ve already had too much of it. Instead, he will be honoring their legacy in a way that the audience can see them in a new light.

“I don’t think the movie would be worth making if it was just a redo. For us to truly thrive as a studio, we need to honor the past of these characters while simultaneously seeing them in a new light.”

Randolph also shared that featuring “The Authority” as the anti-hero group was most probably a misdirect. The film’s main antagonist however is still unclear.

James Gunn shared that including Guy Gardner’s version of Green Lantern is central to his story, and it has sparked curiosity among the fans that the threat could be “cosmic.”

Superman: Legacy will make its way to the theaters on July 11, 2025.
