As per rumors and speculations, James Gunn is supposedly planning to adapt the Crisis comic books into a full-blown trilogy. With the trilogy being an animated one, alleged plans of bringing in every character of the DC Animated Universe (a counterpart to the DCEU) seems to be on the mind of Gunn and Safran.

James Gunn Wants To Bring A Crisis In The DCU

After the failure of The Flash and the average box office run of Blue Beetle, it seems that the DCU is facing a crisis. James Gunn, being an opportunist, would like to turn this crisis into an opportunity for the DCU by adapting a fan-favorite comic-book arc into a trilogy.

With the recently released Justice League: Warworld movie, Warner Bros. also announced a sequel to the movie titled Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths. Following the announcement, the people also noticed that the website of Mike Milo, the director of the project stated that the movie is actually a three-part series called the Crisis Trilogy.

In his resume, Mike Milo had written the following statement to showcase his experience in the field of animation.

“Animation Director – Warner Bros. ‘Justice League- CRYSYS I’, ‘II’ and ‘III'”

Well, James Gunn does seem to keep his cards close to his chest as the animated series could be equal to Marvel’s What If…? in terms of animation. In terms of a story, the trilogy could be Marvel’s equivalent to Avengers: Secret Wars.

With the second season of I Am Groot, the creator of the show Kirsten Lepore talked about how she had a talk with director James Gunn before the second season was finalized. In an interview, the director talked about how Groot was essentially Gunn’s baby.

“It was just us discussing Groot, one on one. He created him, so it was all about who he is and what to think about as I’m writing him, so we can stay true to the character. He said that I have to remember that Groot is a bad baby and that Groot is kind of like an emoji guy, which really resonates with me as someone working in animation. His face is so expressive, and it’s like an emoji.”

I Am Groot recently released the second season and is currently at a rating of 6.7/10 on IMDB. The Marvel series is available to stream on Disney+ around the world.
