Since the SnyderVerse is coming to an end, several of its outstanding performers may soon pursue their unfinished business in the Fast & Furious series.
It’s time to move on from the SnyderVerse after a successful run. With the DCEU coming to a close, its main cast members will be free to look for new roles, and Fast X appears to have signaled the beginning of a significant change.
Prior to entering the DCEU, well-known actors including Gal Gadot, Djimon Hounsou, and Dwayne Johnson have appeared in previous Fast films. It looks like some of them will see reprising their role again since Fast X featured the return of Gadot’s Gisele Yashar and Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs. What led to that decision? Let’s find out.
Gal Gadot & Dwayne Johnson’s return in Fast X
Two enduring franchise favorites made unexpected comebacks in Fast X: Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Gal Gadot’s Gisele Yashar.
After appearing to pass away in Fast 6, Gadot’s comeback was especially shocking. Gisele’s inclusion in Fast X, however, strongly suggested that the character would play a significantly larger part in the franchise’s upcoming films.
Johnson makes an appearance in Fast X’s post-credits scene, allowing him to play a significant role in future films and generating interest in a potential Hobbs & Shaw 2 after a well-documented off-screen fight with franchise star Vin Diesel.
The decision to wrap up The Fast and Furious franchise was related to the MCU controversy
Vin Diesel was asked by Entertainment Weekly in May 2021, in the run-up to the release of Fast 9, why the choice was made to conclude the series with two more films.
The Fast & Furious star reacted by stating that his decision was influenced by how the MCU’s Infinity Saga concluded with two films (Infinity War and Endgame). He said,
“Well, kind of because that’s always what was discussed. Even as far back as 2012, 2013, it was something that [Paul Walker] and I would discuss, finishing on the 10th one. That just always felt right. And being a part of the Marvel franchise, seeing that possibility that when you have that much story you can end with two films. It was something that we’d talked about that became real. It’s just been such a wonderful, wonderful run, and we’d always envisioned that 10 would be the farewell, the finale, and that is what our story is working towards.”
With Gal Gadot’s Gisele and Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs, all coming back to join Dom and his team for one final battle against Jason Momoa’s maniacal Dante Reyes, the SnyderVerse stars are predicted to be thrust into the spotlight.
It’s probable that Fast 11 will concentrate on resolving the team’s fate following the cliffhanger in Fast X ending while simultaneously working towards a reunion to build up Fast 12. This is because Diesel appeared to indicate that there will still be two Fast & Furious films after Fast X.
The main saga’s concluding film, Fast & Furious 12, which stars Hobbs, Gisele, and other returning cast members, could include a full-scale conflict between Dante’s men and the newly-reunited crew of Dom.
