Multiverses are the rage right now! The multiverse Saga in the MCU is in full swing, and Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once also explored a similar concept. However, despite the concept’s limitless possibilities, it’s rare for different Multiverses to collide.
Comic enthusiasts have been envisioning a great crossover of Marvel’s Avengers and DC Comics’ Justice League. If you are among them, there’s someone who can turn your dream into reality — James Gunn.
Is James Gunn Working On A DC-Marvel Crossover?
Having spent a decade heavily involved in the MCU, Gunn will move to DC to head their film operations after the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Will he be the bridge to a potential Marvel-DC collaboration, bringing their most loved characters on the silver screen together?
James Gunn believes a crossover between the two comic powerhouses is more possible than ever. He said,
“I think there’s always the possibility of that. I think that would be a fun thing for fans to see. But I do think it’s just about grounding the Marvel and DC universes right now and trying to make them each as strong as possible.”
Fans Aren’t Happy With The Idea
The prospect of a Marvel-DC crossover has divided fans. While some eagerly anticipate their favorite superheroes’ union, others are left unimpressed by the idea. Fans have contended that both comic book universes have different storytelling styles and tonalities, and merging them could result in losing their unique essence.
Besides, some fans speculate that the concept of a crossover is just a publicity stunt. As a result, the idea of James Gunn being the driving force behind the crossover has yet to be received well by everyone.
Furthermore, some fans have suggested that the rivalry between the two production houses has existed for decades, which could complicate potential crossover negotiations. Both comic book publishers have garnered a loyal fan base, and the notion of two worlds colliding might not sit well with them.
Will James Gunn Conclude MCU Journey With A Bang
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3′s release, James Gunn’s journey with the MCU will conclude. While the franchise is said to end, Gunn has revealed that the film’s characters might appear in future MCU projects.
While not all team members are expected to survive in the film, Gunn has stated he would love it if the characters receive solo movies.
“I would love to see any characters that remain get solo movies, or join the Avengers, or a new version of the Guardians or whatever.”
As for the possibility of a Marvel-DC crossover, Gunn’s response is a cautious “never say never.”
