James Gunn Teases More Suicide Squad Projects With Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller to Keep Wife Jennifer Holland in DCU

The current co-CEO of DCU, James Gunn’s arrival has brought some major changes to the existing cinematic universe. Gunn has taken some critical decisions which have enraged fans, including the exit of Henry Cavill as Superman. Gunn will soon be releasing his plans for the first slot of projects which will carry forth his vision in an effort to save the drowning DCU. Amidst all the massive ongoing reshuffle, the only question that shadows the minds of fans is which will be the upcoming major DCU projects, along with which actors will be retaining their roles.

James Gunn Teases Upcoming Projects With Amanda Waller by Viola Davis

James Gunn, ever since joining DC Films, has constantly interacted with fans to share all updates of DCU. Gunn, whose social media has been pretty active these days, recently shared an Instagram story that teased the possibility of upcoming DCU projects. In his story, Gunn shared a cute picture of his pet cat while referring to it as his writing partner. But there were some minute details in the story which grabbed the attention of fans.

If someone looks carefully at the side of a covered-up document on a computer screen behind Gunn’s cat, one can notice the word ‘Waller’. If you have watched DC movies like Suicide Squad, then you will be pretty familiar with the word. Waller most probably refers to the DC character Amanda Waller. Waller is currently being played by the Academy, Emmy, and Tony awards-winning actress, Viola Davis. Davis’s DCU character is equivalent to Marvel’s Nick Fury, who is the director of A.R.G.U.S. and runs the Task Force X program.

James Gunn Accused of Nepotism

The depiction of the word Waller made it pretty clear that Gunn’s upcoming project will include the director of A.R.G.U.S, most probably played by Davis. But as Waller plays a critical character in DCU projects like Suicide Squad, it is safe to assume that the third installment of Suicide Squad is in progress. But with movies involving Viola Davis’s Waller, we can also expect to see Jennifer Holland, James Gunn’s wife, reprise her character of an NSA agent named Emilia Harcourt.

Holland’s DCU character has been appearing in projects pretty frequently; from Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and even in the upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Holland’s appearance in both past and future movies makes sense. Yet the very fact is that in the ever-changing DCU, where so many stars are losing their hit roles, it looks pretty fishy to fans, who can smell potential nepotism from her frequent appearance.
