James Gunn is all set to bring a new Superman into the DC Universe. And although there is a lot of hatred for the idea at the moment, there is some excitement as well. Fans are waiting to see just how James Gunn will do justice to the beloved Kyptonian as well as to Henry Cavill after he was so abruptly let go.
As of now, there is not much known about Superman: Legacy, however, James Gunn might have given a tiny hint about what the film is going to be like. In an interview, the filmmaker might have let a role slip off his tongue. While nothing major, if the slip actually ends up being true, it might give fans an absolutely adorable reason to watch Superman: Legacy!

James Gunn Hints a Superman: Legacy Character
In an interview with Toronto Sun, James Gunn and Chris Pratt were having a discussion about their recent collaboration, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. During the chat, Pratt stated that despite the franchise ending, the two will always be friends and might even work together in the future. To this, Gunn replied that he hoped to get Pratt to play Krypto the Superdog in Superman: Legacy.
“I was hoping I could cast you as Krypto the Superdog. You could do motion capture on set and walk around on your hands and knees, but you can’t talk.”
The duo then had a word-of-play banter around Krypto and cryptocurrency. After this, Pratt stated, “It sounds like there is going to be a character called Krypto in Superman – breaking news.” Gunn then stated that it can very well be a scoop. They then laughed after Pratt stated that this might get Gunn fired from DC and that it’s time to pack his bags and go back to Marvel.
If this is true, it will be pretty awesome to see what Gunn does with Krypto. Given the fact that the animals in GOTG3 were made to perfection, our hopes are pretty high!
Who is Krypto the Superdog and What are the Fans Saying?
The Kryptonian canine is Superman’s dog. While testing prototypes to send Superman to Earth, Krypto became the first test subject. However, his rocket went off the course and he ended up floating around in space for a long time. Years later, Krypto finally reunited with Superman on Earth.
While there are some who believe adding the dog to the story is of no use, most people are pretty excited, especially after GOTG3. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the scoop:
Superman: Legacy will mark Krypto the Dog’s first live-action appearance if this scoop is indeed true. And we cannot wait to see who voices the character. Will Dwayne Johnson reprise his role as Krypto’s voice after DC League of Super-Pets?
