James Gunn Clarifies That Kang Will Be Absent From The Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is the emerging antagonist in the MCU after Thanos. Kang was properly introduced in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and thus it forced the fans to speculate that Kang or his variant will be involved in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. A similar question was posted by a fan on Instagram requesting the makers to not involve Kang in GOTG Vol. 3 and to only focus the movie on Guardians. James Gunn clarified by replying to the concerned fan that the upcoming film will focus to end the trilogy and even added that he is unaware of what’s happening in other MCU movies.

“Vol 3′ is about ending the story of these Guardians, not about setting up anything else. I don’t even know what’s going on with the other Marvel movies.”

This news should come as a relief to fans who were worried that Kang’s presence might overshadow the Guardians’ final adventure. While Kang is sure to play a big role in the multiverse saga, Guardians certainly deserve to enjoy their time in the completion of the trilogy. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2023.
