The movie revolves around the early life of Superman, from being a commoner like Clark Kent to discovering his roots. The film will focus on the youth superhero and his life at the time. The plot details have been kept under wraps, and as per reports, the casting is yet to start.
In a recent interview, James Gunn opened up on the sentiment he wishes to portray for the movie. The director of the film wanted to keep its emotional aspect.
James Gunn does not want an unemotional Superman: Legacy
The role of Superman was played by ace actor Henry Cavill from Man of Steel in 2013 till Black Adam in 2022. The British actor won the hearts of his fans with his fabulous acting and action sequences. Cavill played the dark version of the fan-favorite comic book action star Superman in his DC movies. However, in the upcoming film Superman: Legacy, the writer Gunn wishes to bring forth another emotion of the caped savior.
According to an official statement by DC Studios,
“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Talking about the upcoming movie James Gunn shared,
“I can’t say I’m looking for any particular emotions to bring out through Superman, but I don’t want it to be unemotional. I don’t want it to deny that we are, as human beings, emotional characters and that Superman is also that.”
The writer-director shared in an interview with Variety,
“The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he’s also an alien”
“It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug.”
Superman: Legacy revolves around the caped star’s journey to strike a balance between his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing.
