Back in 2014, the James Gunn directed-film, Guardians of the Galaxy, hit the theatres and pretty much set a benchmark for all future superhero movies. Despite being B-list characters in the comics, Gunn’s artistic take of explosive colors that look straight out of a comic book worked wonders for the movie.
Apart from Gunn’s expansive cinematography and stellar performances from the cast, the popularity of Guardians of the Galaxy was partly attributed to the adroit usage of classic songs from the past.
However, in a recent Twitter post of FandomWire‘s, the ace director has confirmed that this immensely popular won’t feature in the upcoming sequel.

The movies have expertly used classic songs to further elevate the cinematic experience for the viewers. From David Bowie to Marvin Gaye, the Guardians of the Galaxy films are a throwback to the nostalgia of the past. With the third movie slated to release next year, a few more classics from the past are expected to be a part of the Awesome Mix Vol. 3.
While it’s still unclear which artists will feature in this mixtape, James Gunn has slightly disappointed the fans with the news that Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up won’t be featuring in the soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
