Hollywood star Jada Pinkett Smith often becomes the subject of headlines for her professional and personal life. The actress has starred in several blockbusters and has also given impressive performances in multiple TV series. However, acting is not the only field she has excelled in. Like her husband, Will Smith, The Matrix star also has been a musician. While the Bad Boys star was into hip-hop, his wife loved heavy metal music and launched her music career with the nu-metal band Wicked Wisdom.
However, not everyone loved the band or their music, leading the 51-year-old actress to get several death threats. Although she was scared and felt threatened, the actress has shared that she appreciates the way her husband reacted and dealt with those death threats.
Jada Pinkett Smith Got Multiple Death Threats
Jada Pinkett Smith has been a fan of heavy metal music growing up. During an interview with MTV News, the actress shared that she was a huge fan of Guns N’ Roses and Metallica. However, she also wondered why there were no women in these bands.
“I would always look at Axl Rose and say, ‘Why aren’t there any chicks out there doing this now?'” she recalled. And she always intended to change that about the rock bands. The Nutty Professor actress claimed that she wanted to “get out there and rock out.”
And she did exactly that when she joined the nu-metal band Wicked Wisdom as the lead singer. The band initially worked on the rock/soul hybrid sound and later transitioned into heavy metal. While they had a following, not everyone was a fan of their music.
Things took a turn for the worse after the band was added to the Ozzfest lineup. Pinkett Smith shared that many were outraged by the decision. “I got death threats when I was added to the Ozzfest lineup,” she told Blabbermouth. But she was happy to have her husband, Will Smith, by her side throughout.

During her interview with Blabbermouth, Jada Pinkett Smith shared that she was mocked for her music. However, despite all the hatred, her band got lined up to perform at Ozzfest. The news was not received very well by many, as they believed that the band was not worthy of having a spot at the annual music festival.
“The Ozzfest kids were like, “Hell no,” and I got tons of death threats,” she shared. The Girls Trip actress said that she did not pay attention to such things, and her husband, Will Smith, “dealt with it.” Not only did he take care of the death threats, but Pinkett Smith has said that she admires her husband for not asking her to back out because of the death threats.
“It got to the point my husband considered, but never did, which I respect him for, asking me not to do it,” she stated. Despite all that, she has shared that working on metal music has been one of the “biggest learning experiences” for her.
