Despite the search for a new Bond and his statement to never return, fans have been hoping against hope that Craig would get another chance to star as the iconic British spy 007. nd’ is not keen on ever returning and his decision has nothing to do with the money he makes but rather with the physically traumatic experiences he has faced on-set.
Daniel Craig Would Never Return To James Bond Franchise
Daniel Craig as James Bond earned widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike for the way he brought the character to life. Not only did he bring the much-needed physically imposing nature of the character on-screen, but the realism and complexity with which he portrayed the character were remarkable. The modern take on the Bond mythos while maintaining the integrity of the source material attracted viewers and revitalized the franchise.
Despite the positives, Craig made his last appearance as Bond in No Time to Die and left the franchise after being declared as the longest-serving Bond. In an interview, he stated the reasons for his exit.
“I still do as many stunts as I can because I enjoy the physicality of it – I always have, even before Bond. But I have grown older and don’t bounce back as well as I did. I’ve hurt myself on every single Bond movie since I started; it’s just par for the course.”
Adding that his 2021 Bond movie would be his last, the Knives Out star mentioned that is time for somebody else to don the mantle.
Daniel Craig’s Physically Traumatic Experience On The Sets Of James Bond
When Daniel Craig stated that he had hurt himself on the sets of every James Bond movie, he wasn’t lying at all. He has had a catastrophic time thanks to the physically demanding nature of the movie and the adrenalin-fueled elaborate action sequences in the franchise. In 2006, while filming for Casino Royale, the actor lost two teeth.
In his second appearance, while filming Quantum of Solace he dislocated his shoulder and had it reconstructed as well as sliced the tip of his finger. He even snapped his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and fractured his ankle as well as hurt both his knees. The ACL tear is regarded as one of the most painful injuries and he still managed to continue filming.
All of James Bond movies can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
