Glenn Ficarra, who helmed the 2011 rom-com film, had liked the idea of putting this duo in another film and even other directors too wanted to showcase their chemistry onscreen.
According to the director, the duo loved working with each other and shared great onscreen chemistry. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are a fun duo onset, which has often caused problems for them. As sometimes it became a challenging task for them to be serious.
“Well, it’s tough with Emma because we are such knuckleheads, and we have to work hard to be serious. Especially as we got to know each other on a comedy [Crazy, Stupid, Love]. And it was incredible to get to work with all of those guys – not only the Seans and Joshs, but Giovanni Ribisi and Robert Patrick. It was a great group of guys.”
Ryan Gosling felt comfortable working with Emma Stone on various projects. According to him, work becomes easier when you already know the person and it saves time in getting to know one another.

The two only have praise for one another and can’t think what their life would be like if they didn’t meet each other. In a past interview at the 45th Annual Telluride Film Festival, Stone shared a few words for The Gray Man actor and how he is so beloved to her.
“I can’t even imagine what my life would be without Ryan. He’s so special. It makes me emotional. He’s so talented but he’s such a great person to work with because he’s so collaborative and excited about the process. He’s taught me a lot about being really generous.”
Even Ryan Gosling in many interviews has accepted the fact that he liked working with Stone and that they get along well. Back then in 2017, the Cruella actress won the Oscars for her performance in La La Land. During her emotional acceptance speech, she didn’t forget to mention her partner Ryan Gosling.
