Emily Blunt Does Not Want to Play Stong Female-Led Roles

Emily Blunt has been a sensational addition to the Hollywood industry with her unique performance in multiple blockbuster movies, franchises, and TV shows, she has won the hearts of many. She was introduced to the industry during her teenage days and since then she has been making he way to the top portraying leading roles in multiple projects. But recently, the actress has revealed that she is bored of playing the strong female lead and wants to try something else with her career.

“I love a character with a secret. And I loved Cornelia’s buoyancy, her hopefulness, her guilelessness. It’s the worst thing ever when you open a script and read the words: ‘strong female lead’.

That makes me roll my eyes – I’m already out. I’m bored. Those roles are written as incredibly stoic, you spend the whole time acting tough and saying tough things.

During an interview with The Telegraph, the Looper actress claimed that she was tired of portraying strong female-led movies as most of her movies have revolved around this trait. Although she can perfectly pull off any character given to her, she just does not prefer to do so anymore. Rather Blunt wants to take some time off from these types of scripts and play other challenging roles, as shines best because of her improvisation performances.

Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow 

Edge of Tomorrow, a sci-fi action movie with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, and many others was a movie based on soldiers fighting aliens. Tom Cruise playing the lead role was fighting in a war with aliens and finds himself caught in a time loop. The movie made roughly $370 million worldwide, which wasn’t a huge sum at all, especially considering that it had a $178 million budget. Although it was a great watch and had great reviews, many disliked the movie for many reasons.

Although there were talks for a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow, the project never made it past talks, and all plans for the movie were either dropped or scrapped. The team could not risk another box office failure after the poor performance of the first, worldwide. But apart from it, both Cruise and Blunt gave a perfect performance and were highly appreciated for their stunning performance, especially since they had to do many heavy physically tiring scenes.
