Arnold Schwarzenegger is the Terminator and he’s also the Governator. The 90s action star has even more titles to his name like being Mr. Olympia 7 times. But now, the 75-year-old actor is feeling the effects of age and he isn’t happy with it one bit.
In his prime, Schwarzenegger’s bulking frame was termed as the ideal male physique and he was lauded for his physical presence on screen. But over the decades, his skin is showing his age and it isn’t saying I’ll be back to him anymore.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Struggled With Accepting His Ageing Body And Skin
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that even though he’s still achieving new heights in his career and still working out at his age, he isn’t totally happy. Nowadays, the action star doesn’t like looking at himself in the mirror. He said:
“My whole life I look in the mirror and see the best-built man and all of a sudden I see a bunch of crap. It’s terrible! You get these wrinkles under your eyes. You get wrinkles under your pecs… Where the f**k did that come from? It’s not pleasurable. But you cope with it.”
It looks like the Conan the Barbarian star is coping with it by pouring himself into work. The actor has a Netflix series lined up, called FUBAR, which will see him make his TV premiere. Apart from this, Netflix is also scheduled to drop a documentary on his life soon. Schwarzenegger is also coming out with a self-help book called Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life.
The actor also promotes fitness and the importance of good health while continuing his activism. He recently attended the AWS climate conference to promote sustainable environmental solutions. Also, the Total Recall star has been outspoken about the war on Ukraine. But it seems like the best days of the actor are behind him nowadays. So does Schwarzenegger see that he has now suffered a career decline?
Arnold Schwarzenegger Commented On His 90s Action Star Status
During the THR interview, Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked how it felt to achieve a level of stardom in the 90s that’s almost unheard of now. But the actor expressed that he never felt like he was on top of the world. He said:
“I couldn’t give you an honest evaluation because I don’t analyze myself like that. I never felt like a star. I felt that I’m lucky I’m one of the few to be happy in his professional life and personal life. But I never felt like I was on top of the world — even in my bodybuilding days when I was winning Mr. Olympia. I was always hungry to do more and to do better.”
Since he’s still hungry to achieve more, does this mean Schwarzenegger will return to The Terminator franchise? Not likely. The star put all the rumors to rest and said, “The franchise is not done. I’m done.” He explained that even though he will look back at the franchise fondly because it catapulted him to success, the quality of the films has degraded over the years.
Yet, fans are hoping to see James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger collaborate once again for a film in the franchise. But will that happen? Remains to be seen.
FUBAR releases on 25th May 2023.
