Grandeur and spectacular locations have always been connected to the world of cinema. And when we discuss the Marvel movies, their magic never stops surprising us. For instance, Academy Award-winning actress, Natalie Portman, who started her acting career at the age of twelve, has an especially fascinating tale of her time spent on the Thor: Love and Thunder movie set.

According to the actress, one of the film’s most beautiful scenes was shot in an unexpected location—in a parking lot. Although Portman has admitted that one of her favorite scenes from Thor: Love and Thunder was shot with blue screens in a Best Buy parking lot, Taika Waititi’s film does feature some impressive set pieces and cosmic visual effects.

Natalie Portman Shared the Backstory of Thor: Love And Thunder’s ‘Beautiful’ Scene

One of the most visually stunning scenes in a movie, according to Natalie Portman in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, was shot in a random Best Buy parking lot. The Oscar-winning actress has not yet shared which scene it was, but she did claim that watching the movie always makes her think of “Best Buy”. To quote her:

“There’s one scene that’s one of the most visually beautiful scenes I’ve seen on film, and we shot [it] in real life in a Best Buy parking lot. It’s so wild to be on this size of movie, and we were literally in a parking lot with a blue screen, doing this really dramatic thing. It looks so stunning on film, but every time I see it, I’m like, ‘That’s a Best Buy parking lot.’”

Portman also shot a ton of footage for Thor: Love and Thunder that she adored, but director Taika Waititi mostly deleted it as she previously informed IndieWire:

“There were whole sequences, planets, characters and worlds that didn’t end up in the movie that were hilarious and amazing and [that] we spent a lot of time and energy on, and certainly the entire crew also designing and conceiving. It’s just amazing how much great material is not in the film, considering how much great material is in it. Usually, it’s like, you’re just trying to get enough good stuff to put in the film, and this had overflow. So that was really surprising.”

Natalie Portman Discussed Deleted Scenes From Thor: Love And Thunder

In last year’s interview with Collider, Natalie Portman talked about her experience working with director Taika Waititi on The Love and Thunder and her return to the MCU. When asked about the deleted scenes, she said that the “joy and the sorrow of a Taika Waititi project” was the amount of excellent content that had to be cut. She added:

“And it like inevitably means that incredible, hilarious, moving comedy and drama ends up not there. So, there’s a lot. I mean, there’s full planets that are not there anymore.”

Meanwhile, Waititi discussed the production of Thor: Love and Thunder in a separate interview with Collider. The director of Thor: Ragnarok explained:

“It was about four hours. And a lot of time on set. We were talking about this before, like when, in the moment, you’re like, ‘This is the greatest thing that anyone’s ever filmed in the history of filming things’.”

Waititi, though, added

“You get into the edit. You’re like, ‘I still kind of like it.’ And then, after about six months of it being in the movie, you realize it was fun on the day but it doesn’t have any business being in the movie.”

Critics gave the movie mixed reviews, praising it for its humor, action sequences, and Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, and Portman’s acting, while criticizing the screenplay and tonal inconsistencies.
