Robert Downey Jr. is making his massive comeback to the big screens with Oppenheimer. The movie is one of the most awaited of all time. Being a Christopher Nolan film, it has already gotten a great amount of praise and the anticipation is one that cannot be competed with. The cast is a great head-turner and the story in itself is one that grabs the attention of the audience.
When working with a big director, many would expect the entire experience to be once in a lifetime. That may be true, but it is not grandiose in nature as it seems. Nolan is a renowned filmmaker with a lot of respect within the industry. Working with him is like hitting a jackpot. With such an opportunity, many might presume that it is rather massive.
Robert Downey Jr. Did Not Find Working With Christopher Nolan A Experience
Robert Downey Jr. opened up about his experience while working with Christopher Nolan. Although many might think it to be a great experience it is large-scale and mesmerizing in itself. That is not how it quite looks like. The movie tells the history of the atomic bomb and all that surrounded it. The Iron Man actor’s role is just as significant in the movie as any.
“It’s a huge film experience but it feels very small and focused and kind of intimate when you’re doing it.”
Downey saw the experience rather differently. In his opinion, despite the magnitude of the movie, the amount of focus everyone had throughout the filming made it seem as if the entire experience was smaller than it actually was. It was something he heavily enjoyed and respected. Since everyone who was a part of the film knew exactly what they wanted to do. He was more than happy to be a part of the unique experience.
Robert Downey Jr. Believes Christopher Nolan Only Hires Those Without An Ego
It can easily be agreed upon by fans that the cast of Oppenheimer is one that is dearly loved by everyone. From Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt to Robert Downey Jr. and Florence Pugh; the cast is heavily thought upon and only then selected. The actor even claimed that when it comes to picking out his cast, Christopher Nolan makes sure he has picked the right people.
According to him, the director seeks to get a cast that has a minimum ego but can still get the job done. This helps him in getting actors who are focused and determined.
Oppenheimer will be available to watch in theatres from 21st July 2023.
