The Pirates of the Caribbean star has had an excellent career in the film industry.
Nevertheless, his highly publicized and controversial divorce from his former wife, Amber Heard, plagued his stature in Hollywood. Earlier this year, the actor appeared at Cannes Film Festival after his defamation trial and received a seven-minute-long standing ovation for his film Jeanne du Barry. Despite being a leading superstar and having worked in dozens of movies, Depp once claimed he preferred not to watch his films after starring in them.

From his charismatic on-screen presence to top-notch acting, the legendary star brings a lot to the table, which explains his remarkable film catalog and career.
However, despite being the prominent face of dozens of big-budgeted, record-smashing, and highly-rated movies, the actor does not watch his own films. On The Late Show With David Letterman in 2009, Johnny Depp claimed that it’s none of his business once he is done working on his movies and does not like to watch the final product.
The Alice in Wonderland movie star explained,
“In a way, you know, once my job is done on the film, It’s really none of my business. I stay as far away. If I can, I’d try to stay in as profound a state of ignorance as possible”
Letterman asked the actor if he felt insecure, and to this, he said,
“It’s just that, you know, I don’t like watching myself,” adding “I prefer the experience.
In 2012, at the Golden Globe Awards, the host Ricky Gervais asked him if he had watched his 2010 movie, to which Depp subtly replied, “No.”
Johnny Depp revealed that he doesn’t like watching his films because he prefers to experience his job in real-time rather than watching it later on the big screen.
Johnny Depp Claims He Doesn’t Feel Boycotted by Hollywood
During a media interaction at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival following the premiere of his movie Jeanne du Barry, Johnny Depp was asked if he feels boycotted by Hollywood after his bombshell defamation trial, which brought an avalanche of bad press against him. The actor said he does not think about Hollywood saying,
“I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about Hollywood. I don’t have much further need for Hollywood, myself. It’s a strange, funny time where everybody would love to be able to be themselves, but they can’t. They must fall in line with the person in front of them. If you want to live that life, I wish you the best.”
Johhny Depp has worked with enough A-list celebrities and has starred in films like Public Enemies, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
