Shazam 2 has officially been released in theaters after many delays over the past year. Actor Zachary Levi who plays the titular character in the film has been a fan favorite for his humorous take on the character. The star also expressed his excitement with a tweet after finding out that he was trending on social media. The message though comes on a day that also brought the sad news of the demise of John Wick actor Lance Reddick. Zachary Levi’s statement, therefore, has now been scrutinized with criticism.
Fans slam Zachary Levi for lack of sensitivity
It’s an important weekend for Shazam 2 and actor Zachary Levi knows that more than anyone else. The celebrity shared his joy on social media after his name was trending on Twitter. But his comments have unfortunately rubbed fans the wrong way. The Alvin and the Chipmunks star’s outburst of excitement came at a time when the internet was flooded with messages of condolence for John Wick actor Lance Reddick who sadly passed away. Viewers and netizens have now called out Levi for being tone-deaf and insensitive by promoting himself during this time while the deceased actor was also trending online. Many fans took to Twitter to school the actor for his inappropriate behavior.
Zachary Levi has a connection with controversy
This isn’t the first time that Zachary Levi has courted trouble with his statements. The actor shared an alleged anti-vax opinion on January 28, 2023, that did not go down very well with the public. To quote his exact words,
“Do you agree or not, that Pfizer is a real danger to the world?”
This loaded statement and its probable implications are suggestive of a controversial stance on the COVID-19 vaccination debate which could impact how his film is received by viewers. Following this tweet, many fans took to social media to openly condemn the Chuck star for his views regarding the fight against Covid. Levi then defended his stance by saying that his intent was not to persuade people against vaccination but to reveal the fraudulent activities of Pharma companies. His defense though did little to salvage his earlier comment.
