The sci-fi action movie Speed Racer starring the very handsome Emile Hirsch was released on 26 April 2008. Hirsch played the character of the Speed Racer and Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, and Matthew Fox were also part of the star cast. The movie was directed by Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski.
Emile Hirsch says it’s not simple to make another movie like Speed Racer
When Emile Hirsch was seated for an interview, he was asked about his thoughts on the return of his movie Speed Racer. As the actor played the protagonist in the movie fans wanted to know if he wanted to get behind the wheel once again in the future. While explaining his perception of the second installment of the 2008 movie the actor said,
“You know, I’m very respectful of The Wachowskis as artists and whatever their vision they would want to have. So, I actually wouldn’t feel right trying to initiate something like that with them. I feel like everything they do is totally from their own volition and from their own kind of will.”
He further added,
“I don’t know what the future would be of it, I don’t know. It’s obviously not an easy film to just make another one up, there’s so much financial mechanics that are involved in making something like that. The movie costs, you know, $140 million, or something like that, so you can’t just go make another one, it’s not so simple.”
When the film was released in theaters, viewers and critics had conflicting feelings about it. Many people also claimed that the plot of the film lacked substance, which contributed to the film’s box office failure.
Emile Hirsch is a fan of the cartoon Speed Racer
In the same interview, the Into The Wild actor opened up about his excitement toward the movie’s second installment. Hirsch still thinks that the makers are not yet done with the movie and its character. The Freaks actor also mentioned that he likes the cartoon speed racers, The actor said in his statement,
“I feel like I just genuinely don’t know, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Speed, that’s for sure. I don’t know if it would be the Wachowskis making it or someone else or another actor playing Speed, but I don’t feel like we’re done with that character. I think that there’s a show that’s being made, too, right? I don’t know what company’s making it, but there’s definitely a show that’s being made. So I’d be pretty excited to see that actually. I like the different forms, I love the cartoon of Speed Racer, I think maybe there’s another medium, or TV show, where we can see it.”
The Twice Born actor remarked that the Speed Racer was a financial disaster, which influenced how he chose his future parts in films. Hirsch is one of the most versatile actors in the industry and is known for his acting skills.
