Spider-Man actors dating their onscreen love interest seems to be a pretty common occurrence, and in the case of The Amazing Spider-Man, it was no different. After dating each other for around 4 years, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone eventually called it quit but it appears the duo still comprises huge respect for each other and haven’t shied away from expressing it.
Both The Amazing Spider-Man stars have expressed their feelings for each other on numerous occasions and claimed that they still love each other despite not being in a relationship any longer.
Andrew Garfield still admires Emma Stone even after parting ways
Although the two did part ways not long after The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, Andrew Garfield has been pretty vocal about the respect and admiration he has for his costar. Reflecting on Emma Stone’s win at the Golden Globes for La La Land, Garfield claimed that he was her biggest fan, and witnessing Stone succeed was extremely satisfying for the Oscar-nominated star. But this wasn’t the only time Garfield opened up about his admiration towards Emma Stone, during his interview with Vanity Fair, the actor gave an insight into his bond with Stone after their breakup. He said,
“We care about each other so much, and that’s a given, that’s kind of this unconditional thing. There’s so much love between us and so much respect … It’s also been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other. It’s nothing but a beautiful thing.”
Emma Stone too had something similar to say when asked about her ex, as the actress revealed that Garfield is “someone I still love very much.”
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield reportedly broke up due to strict schedules
Despite maintaining such a healthy bond, the news of their split-up came as a shock to fans and it seems the reason behind their decision to part ways might have to deal with their busy schedule. Being an A-lister in Hollywood has been pretty exhausting for Garfield and Emma Stone and after the two moved on from the Spider-Man franchise, the strict schedule did take a toll on their relationship. A source close to the La La Land star reported,
“Emma understands his work anxieties – it’s why she originally pulled out of Cabaret last year and only did it this year – but they’re taking a break from seeing each other.”
Even though their relationship didn’t end up witnessing the fairytale ending, the two still remain very close friends, with both of them keeping on shining on their fields.
