Andy Muschietti Purposefully Implemented Terrible CGI

As movie studios constantly deal with several things, all at once, like budgets, deadlines, distribution, and such; they often miss out on small details. And one of the easiest departments that get neglected in the process, is the visual effects. If one ever notices carefully, one can find subtle CGI mistakes in most films. However, nothing compares to the nightmarish CG effect and VFX of The Flash.

Just released in theatres, DC’s first dive into multiverse story, The Flash, happens to have unavoidably bad visuals that have been labeled downright embarrassing by the audience. Although The Flash appeared in theatres with just straightforward issues with VFX execution, Andy Muschietti confirmed it to be an intentional artistic decision. Discussing with io9, the director claimed, “The idea, of course, is we are in the perspective of the Flash. Everything is distorted in terms of lights and textures.” Further, he explained, “We enter this ‘waterworld’ which is basically being in Barry’s POV. It was part of the design so if it looks a little weird to you that was intended.”
