Talking about that time, the Man of Steel actor stated that to discuss the role and the film, he went to Cruise’s house. The actor revealed that Tom Cruise was indeed very humble and that they had a nice pleasant chat but Cruise sadly rejected the offer.

“So, I went to his house, and I thought, ‘Great, I’m gonna be in Tom Cruise’s House’. And I sat down on his sofa, we had a lovely chat. He was pleasant, as everyone says he is. We had a conversation, did a bit of a reading, that was it. Job done. I left. Turns out Tom Cruise is no longer making Man From U.N.C.L.E.. He moves on to Mission Impossible.”

After Tom Cruise rejected the role, Henry Cavill was cast as the lead while Armie Hammer was the co-lead of the movie. Cavill and Cruise did not meet for quite a while and The Witcher actor thought that Tom Cruise had forgotten all about him…he was wrong.

After the movie was released, Cavill and Cruise met by chance when they both stayed in the same hotel. The Enola Holmes actor was quite thrilled when not only did Tom Cruise remember him, but he also remembered their conversations all those years back down to the last detail.

“And then [Tom Cruise] started reeling off and firing points about our discussion that we had at his house a year plus ago which I didn’t even remember. And I was thinking, ‘How the hell?’ Immediately, you realize that he listens. Genuinely listens. Genuinely cares. And it’s not just a party trick. That’s the first time I thought, ‘Hm, that’s an impressive man,’”

The duo would go on to share the screen together with the release of the 2018 movie Mission: Impossible – Fallout. The movie received a high rating of 7.7/10 on IMDB and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and is available to stream on Paramount+.
