Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience, Zachary Levi and host Joe Rogan stumbled upon the topic of the defamation trial which was made public for the viewers. As the audience chose their sides, things on the Internet began to get pretty ugly pretty soon. While Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were fighting inside the court, their fans were out to get each other’s throats outside the four walls of the courtroom.

Levi stated that he didn’t know how he felt about the trial being publicized and added that there’s a part of him that wished the “drama” didn’t get the attention it did from the people watching it. While talking about who made money by advertising the trial online, Levi mentions a time when he read someone made $60K just by reacting to the trial.

Rogan replied to that statement, that the trial was a perfect topic to have a reaction video on since “Everybody wants to know what everybody else thinks about it.” However, Levi stated that ultimately, the whole trial made people less empathetic. He questioned how people were able to sit with a bucket of popcorn in their laps and judge the serious case which at some point became an entertainment fiasco.

“I dunno man, I feel like it’s making us less empathetic ultimately. We all get to look at these people literally like you’re saying, they’re having a marital dispute. We’re all getting brought in on their shit. Their traumas, all that stuff. And everyone just gets to sit around eating popcorn and judging the entire fiasco because it’s entertainment, now?”

From the bits and pieces of the trial that Levi saw, he was more on Depp’s side than that of Heard’s. Obviously, everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. However, Levi continued that because so many eyes were on the trial, people forgot that both Heard and Depp were human beings and the whole thing became a circus.

While he does have a point given the fact that social media was flooded with varying opinions, one could argue that the trial also gave a lot of strength to those who needed it. Sure, the negatives might’ve been in a larger number but the positives cannot be overlooked either.

During the trial, there were some serious conversations and debates going on in the regular world. However, there was also a truckload of memes being shared on the Internet. As a snippet from the trial would’ve been released, people would get straight down to business to make a meme out of it. One of the most popular memes to emerge out of the trial was about Depp stating Heard defecated on his bed during an argument. Fans used their quick wit to nickname Heard “Amber Turd” and the name has since stuck.

So now, while Levi called out the trial for being a circus and an “Entertainment fiasco”, he had also jumped on the meme bandwagon as he shared one on his Instagram story about the above-mentioned ordeal.

It looks like no matter what anyone feels about the defamation trial, they simply cannot help but engage in a meme or two. In fact, Levi’s story ended up getting blasted by Twitter users who stated that it was embarrassing for a grown man to share such a post.
