It’s been a few months of shocks and surprises for Henry Cavill. The British star has seen himself being ousted from not just one but two very high-profile roles that earned him his current reputation as one of Hollywood’s heartthrobs and most bankable stars. First, newly-appointed DC head James Gunn relieved Cavill of his Superman duties in the DCU. Then, there was the news that the Man of Steel actor will be leaving the hit series The Witcher permanently after the 3rd season airs in June.

Following these announcements, fans of Henry Cavill took to social media to express their shock and disappointment in not seeing their favorite star in his iconic role again. Cavill’s co-stars from The Witcher too were vocal about his departure and spoke fondly of their association with the star.

Anya Chalotra Had Kind Words For Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill who played the starring role as Geralt of Rivia in the popular fantasy series The Witcher, has officially stepped down from the show after 3 successful seasons of monster-slaying action. While the reasons for his decision to move away are still uncertain, speculations are rife that the Justice League actor may have had creative differences with the writers of the show as it developed into a 4th season. Cavill was clearly popular with his co-stars too. The Witcher star Anya Chalotra, who plays the formidable sorceress Yennefer in the series, expressed her thoughts on Henry Cavill leaving the series.

“The news was… yeah, it’s hard to take because he’s a crucial part of the show and we all adore him. So, we’re gonna miss him a lot. I wish him all the best.”

Charlota went on to add that despite the sad news of Cavill’s departure from the series, the cast of The Witcher decided to stay in the moment and remember the good times and their experiences during these 3 seasons.

Can Liam Hemsworth Fill Henry Cavill’s Big Shoes?

Following the big news that Henry Cavill will no longer be a part of The Witcher after Season 3, it was announced that the role of Geralt of Rivia which Cavill made his own, will be played by Liam Hemsworth. Cavill formally confirmed this news while also wishing his successor well through a beautifully penned note.

The Witcher Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on June 29th, 2023.
