Zack Snyder Cult Claims Upcoming $166M Film Will Destroy MCU

It looks like Hollywood filmmaker Zack Snyder has some ambitious plans for his upcoming Netflix franchise. Set to be debuted later this year, Snyder’s Rebel Moon series is said to mark the beginning of a whole new expansive cinematic universe. And it looks like the Snyder cult too shares the same vision, hoping that the series will probably destroy the over $28 billion worth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans feel Rebel Moon can destroy MCU

With an expansive universe of more than 30 films and over a dozen of television series adaptations, the MCU has established itself as a giant in the superhero franchise realm. However, Zack Snyder fans believe that his upcoming project Rebel Moon has the potential to surpass this major global leader.

Recently, the makers unveiled new artwork for Snyder’s project. And excited about its release, the Snyder cult shared their views in the comments section.

The series is set to debut on December 22, 2023. Reportedly, Snyder has already conceptualized a television show that deals with the backstory of Balisarius, the central antagonist of the series

The Rebel Moon and Star Wars connection

Notably, Netflix expressed a keen interest in the scale of the project during the pitch phase. As Snyder revealed,

“When I pitched it to Netflix, the scale was a thing they wanted. They were like, ‘Well, how big could it be? How many movies?’ That made me go, ‘Okay if we really do this, we can sink our teeth pretty deep into this. We can’t really hit the bottom.'”

However, interestingly, the conceptualization of the Rebel Moon traces back to Zack Snyder’s original pitch for a Star Wars movie that he attempted when Disney had freshly acquired Lucasfilm. Snyder, who had envisioned an R-rated Star Wars movie did not receive approval for his script, hence ending in the rejection of his proposal.

But now, with complete autonomy over his project, as bestowed by Netflix, Snyder has hinted at a multilayered narrative. With co-writers Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, Snyder’s $166 million project Rebel Moon promises to unleash the filmmaker’s visual imagination to its full extent, creating a cinematic experience beyond precedent.
