Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to the much loved Black Panther is all set to tug at the heartstrings of viewers with its tribute to actor Chadwick Boseman. From the trailer itself, one could see what an emotional journey the movie is going to be. The beautiful background music, a mysterious woman in a female Black Panther suit, and new characters together make this film a must watch for Marvel fanatics.
Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe is bringing one comic book character after another to the big screens, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is no exception. Namor and Ironheart are ready to set foot into the ever-growing superhero universe. To the surprise of O.G. fans, MCU’s producer had something to say about Ironheart’s appearance in the upcoming movie and how she is linked to the beloved Avenger, Iron Man.
Iron Man Influences Ironheart
Riri Williams, AKA Ironheart is a comic book character known for her super genius intellect. She is now making her way into the MCU with her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with Dominique Thorne bringing the character to life.
Amidst the excitement for the movie’s release comes another update. In an interview, the movie’s producer Nate Moore, who is also the VP of Production at Marvel Studios’ revealed how exactly Tony Stark and Riri Williams are connected.
In the comics, Riri Williams was so inspired by Tony Stark that she, a fifteen year old genius, builds her own super suit. Moore states that while the character heavily follows Stark’s footsteps in the comics, the movie will be toning it down. He stated that while it is a nod towards the deceased Avenger, it is also it’s own thing.
“It was really exciting, and you sort of put your finger on it. It is both a nod to Tony Stark, but [also] its own thing. You know, Riri Williams, I think, probably steps less directly in Tony’s footsteps than she does [in the comics], but there’s certainly an admiration for all the stuff he built.”
Apparently, Ironheart’s advanced super suit in Wakanda Forever resembles Iron Man’s suit. Well, if Tony Stark wasn’t the billionaire he was. Moore stated that the fact that Riri Williams built cars with her dad and thus, it made sense to create a not-so-sleek super suit.
“The notion was, if someone was actually trying to build an Iron Man suit, but didn’t have Iron Man resources, where would she go? So it is a little bit more ad hoc. And he also loved the idea that, you know, Riri used to build cars with her dad. So, there’s sort of a, kind of, Detroit-motor-city feel to it. It’s not as sleek and clean as Tony’s suit.”
Ironheart does not have any direct relations to Iron Man, except the similar superhero names. So far, it seems like the movie justifies the link between the two. It looks like despite being long gone, the MCU just can’t seem to get Tony Stark out of their minds.
