Well, it seems that Marvel may have had a rough patch during Phase 4 of the MCU but things may be finally looking up. With Chris Evans retiring from his iconic role of Captain America, the burden of the shield falls on Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson aka The Falcon…and the new Captain America!
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuted to average reviews in the MCU. The makers quickly adapted the new formula and in a recent report, stated that the upcoming Captain America project will be more “grounded” than the previous ones.
Chris Evan’s Captain America Will Be More Grounded In The MCU
Although the actor has retired from the MCU, the shield and the mantle of Captain America passed onto Anthony Mackie, the protege of Steve Rogers. Portraying the character of Sam Wilson, he finally found the courage to become the next Captain America during the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

With Marvel suffering heavy backlashes through Phase 4 of the MCU, the makers decided to improvise their material. Production designer Ramsey Avery talked to Collider about the new Captain America project and how it will follow a more grounded approach like Chris Evan’s Steve Rogers back in the day.
“The intent of this is to be very grounded, to make sure it has that sense of really happening in the world. So it’s a different sense in a lot of ways than particularly some of the more recent pieces have been. And it’s a very deliberate choice, and it’s a fascinating choice and an exciting choice. And it comes with a whole host of different kinds of questions involved in that.”
And with that choice, the talk of Anthony Mackie taking up the mantle came into discussion. With Chris Evan’s shield now passed onto the actor, one of the producers of the MCU is quite excited about the opportunity.
Anthony Mackie’s Captain America Is Not A Super Soldier!
MCU producer Nate Moore was quite excited to chat about the 8 Mile actor portraying the role of the new Captain America. Stating that he was not Steve Rogers i.e., he is not a super soldier boosted by serums, Nate Moore exclaimed that it would be really fun to watch how a normal human would fit in the role of Chris Evan’s Steve Rogers!
“I think, he’s not Steve Rogers and I think that’s a good thing. Because to me, this new Cap is Rocky. He’s going to be the underdog in any situation. He’s not a super soldier. He’s not a hundred years old. He doesn’t have the Avengers.”
He further continued,
“What happens with this guy who announces publicly kind of, without the support, ‘I’m new Captain America.’ What happens next? I think is fascinating because he’s a guy. He’s a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy. So, we’re going to put him through the wringer and make him earn it, and see what happens when he is outweighed, outclassed, out-everything. What makes somebody Captain America? I’m going to argue it’s not being a super soldier. And I think we’re going to prove that with Mackie and Sam Wilson.”
With Anthony Mackie attached in the lead role, the upcoming project, titled Captain America: New World Order is speculated to have a release date of 3rd May 2024 in theaters across the U.S.
