Henry Cavill has been a no-show online or in real life for quite some time now. The Witcher season 3’s first part will be released soon, but the main man hasn’t been seen anywhere. It might be because he isn’t a part of the Netflix series anymore, so there might be no point in him doing promotional press for it.
Also, sitting during interviews to answer incessant questions about what made him leave the show or how Liam Hemsworth might do as his replacement is probably not the ideal scenario for him. As such, his co-stars are filling in for him and facing the tough questions. However, some fans think that Cavill’s co-stars probably resent him due to this and more.
The Witcher Stars Address Henry Cavill’s Departure From The Show
During an interview with Radio Times, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, and Joey Batey were asked what it felt like to say goodbye to Cavill. They were also asked if they have spoken to Liam Hemsworth, who is slated to take over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Cavill in season 4. Out of the trio, only Allan answered. She explained that the Man of Steel star’s departure was a surprise to them. Allan replied:
“It was quite a few months after wrapping, it was a surprise to us all, but now we are all celebrating the work that we have all put in together for season 3 and really shedding light on that hard work and trying to focus on that and move forward with that and focus on what’s ahead, and I think it will be exciting to see Liam’s interpretation.”
It seems like a very mature answer to a complicated situation since there are rumors that Cavill departed because he was unsatisfied with the way not just his character but the entire show was being written. However, fans of the show and Cavill are reading a bit more into Allan’s answer and concluding that his co-stars must hate him.
The Witcher Fans Think Henry Cavill’s Co-Stars Resent Him For Leaving The Show
In the interview, Freya Allan, who plays Ciri in the show, seems dour and not really enthusiastic while answering the question. Also, Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey too seem somber. Fans think that the way Allan answered the question made it seem like they were blindsided by Henry Cavill leaving the show after the season was already done filming.
Here’s what the fans are saying:
This is all just speculation from fans, and nothing as such has even been hinted at by the stars themselves. Overall, it seems like the transition process is difficult for everyone involved with the show, and everyone is trying to handle it as maturely and respectfully as possible.
The Witcher season 3 premieres on Netflix on June 29, 2023.
