Carrie Fisher rose to international recognition with her Princess Leia role in the Star Wars franchise. She was definitely one of the iconic actresses of her generation who stole everyone’s hearts by donning her gold bikini for her role which even gave her s*x symbol status. However, her professional life is nothing less intriguing than her personal life especially the time when she dated her co-star, Harrison Ford.
Carrie Fisher Had a Thing for Her Star Wars Co-star, Mark Hamill
While the former’s affair with Fisher is no longer a secret to the world, many are unaware of Fisher having some romantic feelings for her other co-star. In an interview with The Guardian, the Luke Skywalker actor shared,
“Carrie and I were attracted to one another but I knew from previous jobs that it would have been a bad idea [to get involved with someone on set].”
The duo under the influence of alcohol as per Hamill made out with each other.
“I remember one time – I’m sure alcohol was involved – we were talking about kissing techniques. I said: ‘Well, I think I’m a fairly good kisser. I like to let the women come to me rather than be aggressive.’ And she said: ‘What do you mean?’ Well, next thing you know we’re making out like teenagers!”
He even confessed that this incident happened on the set of Star Wars. However, they chose not to stretch it further and put an end to that incident with laughter.
Carrie Fisher Was Special in Mark Hamill’s Life
“But there was a comfort level that we’d achieved because she knew I wasn’t ever angling for a favor or trying to get her to introduce me to this agent or this director. We became like real siblings over the years.”
He continued how she made everyone special around him. He also revealed why he never dated her.
“I mean, if I’d had a relationship with her, it would have been like a full-time activity because she was too much for me in every regard: she was too creative, she was too smart. She was just the best.”
While the duo never dated, she was having an affair with Ford off-screen. The duo kept their relationship a secret for several years. It was disclosed in the actress’s memoir, The Princess Diarist which was published shortly before her demise.
