“It will eat CPUs”: Starfield Leak Reveals Bethesda’s $200M Worth Game Can be a Nightmare For PC Gamers

Starfield Leak Reveals Bethesda’s $200M Worth Game Can be a Nightmare For PC Gamers

Bethesda’s Starfield comes out next week, releasing globally on the 6th of September, and it’s safe to say that the entire gaming community is waiting for the much-hyped game. Gamescom 2023 started with Starfield Game Director Todd Howard showcasing a new live-action trailer for the game, showing glimpses of in-game action and character customizations. With the overall budget of the game going beyond $200 Million, there’s a lot banking on the game’s success.

To fully experience Starfield, however, gamers now know that a rig with high specs will be needed, to have the game running at 4K resolution and 60 FPS constantly, or at least most of the time. Just as is the case with every big game at times, performance leaks have got fans and gamers divided about Starfield as well after leaks suggest frame drops and CPU stress hampering the experience.

Starfield’s Recommended System Requirement For Gamers To Get The Best Experience Is No Joke

Going by the listing on Steam, the recommended PC requirement for Starfield requires at least 125 GB of space on SSD, rather than HDD for better performance, and a minimum of 16 GB of RAM. On the GPU front, either of these two GPUs should cut it – either AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 XT or NVIDIA’s RTX 2080 with either of these two CPUs – AMD’s Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel’s 10-gen i5 processor.

Although the suggested spec list is already very full, if players can afford to go for more, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to have the finest that Intel and AMD have to offer. The latest Intel Core i9 or AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X or Ryzen 9 7950X processors, as well as the 12th generation Intel i5 chip, are all awesome choices for gamers to consider as they can handle the game superbly. On the GPU front, these can be combined with either an AMD 7000 series GPU or an NVIDIA 40 series GPU.

In a spectacular fashion, the performance leaks for Starfield have taken over Reddit as a Redditor with around 40 hours of gameplay has revealed his thoughts on the game with clips and screengrabs. The game is also said to have frame-drops between 45 and 60fps with 60fps being reached only in non-combat scenes. Although all this has to be taken with a grain of salt until the game actually launches, gamers are just hoping they get to run the game smoothly at 30fps, at high settings even with last year’s GPUs.

The Reddit post has started a debate between other Redditors with some commenting that the game looks like it will “eat CPUs”.

All that being said, the actual Redditor who had posted clips and screengrabs found Starfield deeper than Fallout 4/Skyrim in terms of RPG mechanics. He rated the game an easy 9.5 out of 10. Going by the details given by the Redditor, the performance is smooth without any stutters or lags. They had gone with the default graphics settings and found the game “pretty good” and even as far as to call it a “GOTY nominee”.

Some of the fans also chimed in with positivity stating what’s seen in the clips must be considered an “impressive performance” as Bethesda’s older titles have released with a bag full of bugs.

Even with the negative feedback from early gameplay clips that have come out so far, the gaming community is still hyped for the game.

Another much-debated topic from the gameplays and reviews that have come out so far is the game’s tiles not being connected. This Redditor above has also tried to put this topic to bed, as he confirmed that “Tiles are not connected”. Many fans had chimed in saying Tiles not being connected means players can land right next to an already existing landing area and not be able to see it from afar.

A lot of others also commented saying they aren’t too concerned about this for now, as frivolous as it might be for gamers to be debating about, while others went ahead and even explained it better, as below.

Whether or not the game lives up to the hype or disappoints gamers and fans a bit, Starfield is bound to give gamers and fans everywhere an experience like no other. Starfield releases on the 6th of September globally, and once more gamers play the game for a substantial number of hours, there should be some reliable observations to start judging the game then.
