Every celebrity death suspends a cloud of gloom over the entertainment industry. However, Paul Walker’s passing hit differently. He was young, he was loved, and he had an insane future ahead of him. Not only did his death leave his close ones and his co-stars stunned and heartbroken, but the entire world mourned him.
Michelle Rodriguez was one of those who found it extremely difficult to deal with the unfortunate news. From witnessing a hard reality check to forcing herself to feel things, Paul Walker’s death took a huge toll on the actress. Things were so bad that at a point, Michelle Rodriguez had to turn to a psychedelic drug in order to realize that she was a bit jealous of the late actor’s passing.
Michelle Rodriguez was Jealous of Paul Walker
When someone close to you passes away, emotions can sometimes take a backseat. Something similar happened with Paul Walker’s Fast & Furious co-star, Michelle Rodriguez. Just like the rest of the world, Rodriguez was deeply affected by Walker’s untimely death. She once told Entertainment Tonight that she was trying really hard to feel things again.
“I was pushing myself to feel. I felt like nothing I could do could make me feel alive, so I just kept pushing myself harder and harder.”
She also added that she went “pretty crazy” after his death and did things that she would never do in her right mind.
The documentary, The Reality of Truth, talked about the “relationship between spirituality, religion, and psychedelics.” Rodriguez was a part of this documentary where she talked about how a psychedelic plant/drug helped her get clarity on Walker’s death.
“I have to say, you know, when I lost Paul, I went through about a year of just being an animal. Like, what could I do physically to just get my mind off existentialism, get my mind off how transient life is and we just come here and can disappear any moment? I did absolutely anything I could do to hide from myself.”
In the end, Rodriguez stated how the psychedelic drug, Ayahuasca, helped her deal with the loss in a fresh perspective. She soon realized that she wasn’t sad that Walker had passed away, she was just jealous that he left first.
“My Ayahuasca trip made me sad that he left me here. It wasn’t a sadness that he’s gone, it was more like a jealousy that he’s there first.”
Well, people have all the right to deal with this kind of loss in their own way. While Rodriguez’s method was a bit unconventional, it at least helped her get some clarity.
Paul Walker’s Death Was A Reality Check for Michelle Rodriguez
During her appearance on Tamron Hall, Rodriguez opened up about how Walker’s death taught her an important lesson about life. she realized just how delicate and unpredictable life is and you never know what might happen next.
“It was a reality check. It was a reminder that we are very delicate creatures and that one minute you’re here, and the next you can be gone. And it made me really take life and living more seriously. It made me think, ‘Why do I do what I do? And what’s the intention behind it? What’s my purpose?’”
In just a few months, it will be a decade since Walker bid goodbye to this world and moved on to the next. Despite all the years without him, his fans have not forgotten the legacy he left behind.
