Dwayne Johnson Returns To The Fast & Furious Franchise
Although Fast X is believed to have become a blockbuster based on the reputation of its predecessors, fans believe the movie excelled due to its compelling moments. Evidently, Jason Momoa’s appearance was highly appreciated by the audience and was even hailed by critics. However, it wasn’t the only aspect that earned cheers in the theatre.
Dwayne Johnson‘s surprising return to the franchise as Luke Hobbs was one of the greatest moments that not only hooked the audiences to the screen but also opened an opportunity for him to feature later in the franchise. After the surprise tease at the end of Fast X, Universal appears to be making it official for Johnson to star in an untitled Fast project.
The actors’ return turned out to be a major reversal, especially after Dwayne Johnson repeatedly claimed to be done with the action-packed franchise, after a clash with Vin Diesel. However, shockingly enough, despite the well-documented fallout between the duo, Johnson’s return was majorly looked after by the 56-year-old.
Vin Diesel Explained The Necessity Behind Luke Hobbs’ Return
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Vin Diesel discussed the surprising return of Dwayne Johnson in the latest installment, Fast X. Discussing the importance of the actor’s brief cameo for Luke Hobbs to reunite with the Fast & Furious franchise, Diesel confessed going through a lot of troubles.
“When you end the movie with a cliffhanger of that magnitude, you only do that when you believe that your audience believes in you. But it was no easy task because so much has been created in this universe. And to tie up all the storylines, this character [Hobbs] needed to come back into the mythology.” Vin Diesel claimed.
Because the fans were able to grapple with Jason Momoa’s appearance as a formidable opponent, Vin Diesel felt it was fine to bring back Dwayne Johnson as well. Therefore, working with director Louis Leterrier, the 56-year-old welcomed Johnson to the franchise.
“There’s no ‘Fast and Furious’ without an amazing tag at the end — a surprise appearance as the lawman pulls off his mask. And we reveal Luke Hobbs.” Louis Leterrier stated.
Following Dwayne Johnson’s return to the franchise with Vin Diesel, it appears the duo is finally mending fences. The former WWE champion even officially tweeted about the next Fast & Furious film about Hobbs and Reyes.
