Brad Pitt gained the respect and attention of the people after he starred in the 1995 crime/mystery movie Se7en. Starring alongside Morgan Freeman and with veteran director David Fincher at the helm, Pitt had everything he needed in the movie and more.
The actor became so spoiled with Fincher’s way of direction that when Troy was released in 2004, the actor did not feel great. Talking about it in an interview, the actor claimed that Troy became a commercial kind of a thing and that he did not enjoy making the movie as compared to working with David Fincher.
Brad Pitt Did Not Enjoy Making Troy Without David Fincher
A killer on the loose that seemed to kill his victims concerning the seven deadly sins is quite the benchmark of crime/mystery movies. With Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman in the lead role, director David Fincher essentially created history with the 1995 movie, Se7en.
Speaking of creating history, Brad Pitt later on, went to star in the 2004 movie Troy. With Wolfgang Petersen as the director of the movie, the Fight Club actor revealed that he did not enjoy making the movie as David Fincher had already set the benchmark pretty high.
“I could not get out of the middle of the frame. It was driving me crazy. I’d become spoiled working with David Fincher. It’s no slight on Wolfgang Petersen; Das Boot is one of the all-time great films. But somewhere in it, Troy became a commercial kind of thing. Every shot was like, ‘Here’s the hero!’ There was no mystery.”
And who could blame Pitt? Troy managed to gather a global box office collection of $497.3 million during its theatrical release. The movie received average ratings as people had mixed reviews and reception for Brad Pitt and the movie.

Brad Pitt Had No Choice But To Star In Troy
Who would’ve thought that the actor would go on to regret his choice so harshly? In an interview, Brad Pitt revealed that he had no other choice except to star in Troy. Stating that if he did not choose to do so, it would be a breach of contract, Pitt exclaimed that he learned his lesson that day.
“I’m following my gut from here on out. I had to do Troy because—I guess I can say all this now—I pulled out of another movie and then had to do something for the studio. So I was put in Troy. It wasn’t painful, but I realized that the way that movie was being told was not how I wanted it to be. I made my own mistakes in it.”
With a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDB and a low of 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, Troy is available to stream on Apple TV+. As for the David Fincher masterpiece, Se7en, starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman is available to stream on Paramount+.
