Tom Holland has had a remarkable career so far, with one successful project after another. From his memorable role as Spider-Man in the MCU to his recent performance in the Uncharted film, Holland has enjoyed a string of accomplishments. However, his latest venture, the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room, has received a harsh critical reception, marking a new experience for the actor.
Despite this, Holland wants to clarify recent remarks about taking a year-long break from acting, which he mentioned during an interview with Extra that coincided with the incoming wave of negative reviews for his new show. He emphasized that the decision to take a break was made after the completion of filming for The Crowded Room last year and was not influenced by the unfavorable reviews. In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holland addressed the overwhelmingly negative response that his new series has received.
Tom Holland Had Difficulty Processing Negative Reviews For The Crowded Room
Tom Holland, renowned for his success in various blockbuster projects, finds it challenging to accept the negative reviews for his series, The Crowded Room. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the talented actor acknowledged the difficulty of processing such feedback, expressing,
“It was a kick in the teeth. Rolling over, looking up the reviews, and then all of a sudden I was like, ‘Wow. That’s a bad review.’ Sometimes there’s a redeeming quality in there. There was nothing.”
Despite acknowledging a few positive reviews, Holland remains optimistic about the show and shows respect for the opinions of critics. “There will be good ones,” he confidently stated. “There will be. I try to have a healthy outlook on all that sort of stuff and respected everyone’s opinion.” Critiques primarily focused on the repetitive nature of the series and its failure to deliver a captivating storyline.
What We Know About The Crowded Room
In The Crowded Room , Tom Holland takes on the role of a young man who becomes entangled in a shooting incident at Rockefeller Center in New York City during the summer of 1979. Holland took on the dual responsibilities of acting and producing for The Crowded Room and revealed in an interview with Extra that managing both roles, along with portraying a character grappling with intense mental health challenges, pushed him to his limits.
Holland tried to look at the positives by thanking his fans, stating,
“I would like to say a massive thank you to my fans, and the people that have seen the show because we’re at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. I feel so grateful that I have a wonderful community of people that support me and are there for me, so I’m honored and really excited for the rest of the show to come out.”
Despite a soaring 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes given by fans, The Crowded Room received a disappointing 26% rating from critics. Alison Herman, a TV critic for Variety, described the series as “unfortunately empty” in her review.
