Zendaya found herself starring in a romance/sports movie alongside Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor in an upcoming movie titled Challengers. The trailer depicted the actress alongside Faist and O’Connor as three teenage Tennis players who meet during their adult years.

With an interesting story to portray, the actress revealed that she and her co-stars attended an “acting/tennis summer camp” and the stories are here. Zendaya revealed that to prepare for the role, they watched a classic Pixar movie and the reason is unknown!

Known for directing the 2017 film, Call Me by Your Name, Luca Guadagnino has been known for creating iconic and heart-wrenching movies. Sitting at the helm of the project as its director, Guadagnino is quite excited about his upcoming magnum opus. In an interview, The Greatest Showman actress revealed that she attended a tennis/acting summer camp in preparation for her role. It included watching movies at night and one of the movies was Pixar’s iconic savory film Ratatouille.

“It was an acting/tennis summer camp. You wake up really early. Everybody’s like, ‘OK, let’s stretch together.’ We stretch, we play PE games… and work out, and play tennis, rehearse all day. It was a dream in that respect, you get paid to do what you would want to do anyway.”

Zendaya further added that it wasn’t all work and physical fitness as they had some relief time too. Stating that they watched Ratatouille for fun, the actress said, “Some light-heartedness to balance some of the talk and the energy of these characters”.

It Was A Memorable Summer For Zendaya

In their interview, the trio talked about how they formed a bond with each other during the acting/tennis camp. Stating that their camp created a very vivid bond between the three actors, Mike Faist recalled that it was a very memorable summer for the three of them.

“That’s kind of what we do as actors. You just kind of learn new skills with everything, and each time it just feels like, ‘OK, what kind of camp is this going to be?’ And the three of us, really, we had a lot of fun training together and working together. It was definitely a memorable summer.”

The movie sees the three players knowing each other while playing Tennis and sharing an intimate and complex relationship between them. The trio meets years later when they have to participate in a tennis tournament to become the world-famous grand slam winner. Challengers is slated for a release date of 26th April 2024 in theaters across the world.
