The video game-based movie starred some of the best A-listed actors in Hollywood of all time. It had Michael Fassbender as the hero opposite Marion Cotillard, the female protagonist. However, even after having top-listed actors, the movie still could hardly be rated average.

In an interview with Movie’n’co, Fassbender revealed what the issues with the movie Assassin’s Creed could be which stopped it from getting the love it deserved.

“For sure, it wasn’t ideal. I think we missed an opportunity there a little bit. So we’ll wait and see what Ubisoft are coming up with. But right now I don’t know. I would make it more entertaining, that’s really the main note. The feeling of the film, I think it took itself too seriously and I would get to the action a lot quicker. I think there’s three beginnings of the film, which is a mistake.”

According to the actor, the movie was set in a ‘too serious’ theme, with the action scenes not at appropriate places. And it’s not just the actor who thinks that – the critics share the same opinion.

One of the best and most exciting games of all time, Assassin’s Creed deserved a better video game adapted movie. While Michael Fassbender himself admits that the game-based movie could not capture the special reason for the game’s big win, critics also point out the messy starting along with the boring parts of the film that make the viewers uninterested in the movie altogether.

Critics review that the game is more thrilling and adventurous than the movie. The video game-adapted movie has an 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with only a 44% audience rating, which is very poor for a movie based on a super-hit game of all time.

Irrespective of that, the movie is said to have grossed a total of $240M worldwide, nearly twice its production budget. While there are currently no talks about the movie’s sequels, there might be a TV show based on the video game coming on the big screens soon. However, as there’s no confirmation, we’ll have to wait and see if these rumors are true.

You can watch the movie Assassin’s Creed on Prime Video.
