Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is going to reign over the Quantum Realm soon as the release date for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania nears. The movie will officially start the Multiverse Saga with Kang’s mission to take over, or better yet, conquer the multiverse. The movie will initiate the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans have come to realize that perhaps the villain had been hinted at much earlier. That too, by none other than Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame concluded the character’s journey in the most heroic way possible. The movies marked the end of an era for both the story and the fans. However, hints about the biggest villain yet had been dropped much before he debuted in Loki.
Robert Downey Jr.’s Dialogue Almost Revealed Jonathan Majors’ Kang’s Involvement
Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, while successfully discovering time travel, had warned the Avengers that time tends to retaliate when tampered with. This could have been a hint at Jonathan Majors‘ Kang the Conqueror working with Scott Lang by making a deal, trading time with his daughter. Under the impression that he does not mean harm, Lang agrees.
“You mess with time, it tends to mess back.”
This very quickly backfires when he discovers the truth about Kang via Janet Van Dyne. She spent years in the Quantum Realm and knew immediately that Kang was not a force who should be made deals with. Majors’ character thrives by ruling over worlds and the universes he can conquer. Tony Stark traveled through time and saved the entire universe from Thanos’s hands. He sacrificed himself in order to make sure those he loved were living in a safe world after he was gone. He warned his team about oncoming threats that could be coming due to them tampering with time.
He Who Remains Also Warned About Kang The Conqueror
When Loki first introduced Jonathan Majors’ as a Kang variant, specifically He Who Remains, the character had warned about his other versions. He told both Sylvie and Loki about how he is the only one standing in the way of his variants from trying to take over the multiverse.
The Sacred Timeline focused on making sure no other variant of the character ever came into being. However, Sylvie’s need for revenge came his way and that led to branches of time being formed, opening up the multiverse.
Kang the Conqueror’s influence will continue throughout the fifth phase, ultimately leading to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. His power and reign will continue to be a part of the MCU for a while as he proves just how dangerous of a villain he is.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be available to watch in theatres from 17th February 2023.
