Snyder is currently excited for the release of his upcoming movie Rebel Moon. The space opera will act like an R-rated Star Wars film and fans are quite excited about it. In an interview, the 300 director talked about why he wanted a Netflix streaming release instead of a theatrical experience and the answer did not make sense…at first.

“With [Rebel Moon], I was not super interested in a theatrical release, especially with the PG-13 versus extended cuts. I feel like with the theatrical release, the way the model is, it takes some energy out of it.”

The director further explained that he had to be careful not to make the opening scene of the movie too intense or too boring since fans would simply turn the movie off and watch something else. After some discussion, the director stated that there were a total of 3 cuts of his first movie and each one had something surprising for the audience.

As is the director’s iconic style, Snyder has often created two cuts of his movies. A theatrical cut and an extended cut for his fans. Well, Snyder’s upcoming magnum opus Rebel Moon has three cuts for the people based on your age and your preferences.

As per the report, Rebel Moon will have a PG-13 cut and an R-rated cut. Both will be available to stream on Netflix at the time of its release. Zack Snyder slyly hinted that a third extended director’s cut may also be in the work for fans around the world.

“[I]t gives that second kick at the can for big fans, like a real discovery that they would not [otherwise] get. I’m really excited about it!”

The director has teased almost an hour of footage that he exclusively shot to be included in the director’s cut. Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire is currently slated for a release date of 22nd December 2023.
