Discussing her childhood eating habits, the Oscar-winning actress, Jessica Chastain revealed how she wanted to be in the spotlight from a young age. Remembering how she did certain insane things for the sake of people’s attention, Chastain admitted being “an obnoxious kid”.

Jessica Chastain Recalls Her Childhood Years 

Being one of the most gorgeous women and an Oscar-winning actress didn’t come all of a sudden to Jessica Chastain. Apparently, the actress had always craved attention and spotlight. Thus, taking a walk down memory lane, Chastain recalled her childhood years when she initially started seeking attention.

Looking back on her days in the classroom, Jessica Chastain revealed to The Guardian, “I was an obnoxious kid because I wasn’t getting appropriate attention”. Further, reflecting upon the chapter of her life where her grades altered her perspective of herself, the actress mentioned, “I had always thought that I wasn’t an intelligent person because I did badly at school.”

Even though her grades didn’t change much, later on, Jessica Chastain recalled how her trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival changed the trajectory of her life. “Something opened up inside me. It was the strangest thing… I became obsessed with Shakespeare” Chastain admitted. Thereafter, the Oscar winner found her passion for theatres and stagecraft.

After Jessica Chastain previously revealed how she sought people’s attention as a kid, she spoke about inculcating a bizarre habit to get noticed by other kids.

Appearing on an episode of the WTF With Marc Maron podcast, the Oscar winner revealed, “I remember sitting in the cafeteria and eating orange peels and banana peels because it made people notice me,”. She further added, “the other kids would be like, ‘Oh my God, look at her.’ I know, it’s terrible.”

I just wanted people to notice me for being a weirdo, that I was existing, something” Jessica Chastain recalled.

However, her goal of being in the spotlight gradually got fulfilled as she navigated her way into Hollywood, and won an Oscar for her 2021 biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye
