Charlie Sheen is an unmissable name in the Hollywood movies and television industry. he became a household name with the show Two And A Half Men, and some of his famous films include The Chase, Men at Work, Hot Shots!, Wall Street, among others. The actor has played some memorable roles as well, and one among them is Rick Vaughn in the movie Major League. The film was a box-office success and is still watched with great fondness by his fans.
Charlie Sheen’s movie was quite a hit, however, the sequel could not match up to the level of the first movie. The actor even finds parts of the sequel unwatchable because of the chaotic plot.
Major League is close to Charlie Sheen’s heart
In a recent interview with Audacy’s 92.3 Afternoon Drive on The Fan, the Platoon actor shared details about one of the most iconic baseball movies of all time. The actor said,
“You can never predict how a film is going to carry itself through the years. But it’s such an honor to be part of something that to this day … it’s the cinematic gift that keeps on giving. It’s turned into a multigenerational experience.”
“It’s a trip. We knew that we were sitting on a gem as far as the script. But again, you never really predict how something is going to transfer from a page onto the screen.”
Sheen shared that he believes Major League has been an all-time hit because it combines two themes that people are drawn to at the movies- The Underdog theme and a traditional love story.
Charlie Sheen expresses dislike for the sequel Major League II
Major League was a commercial success, which led to its two sequels Major League II and Major League: Back to the Minors. However, both of those films were unable to recreate the success of the first one. Sheen was part of the first sequel, yet he finds parts of the movie difficult to watch. He said,
“It is not even in the same conversation [as the first movie],” he declared. “Parts of two are unwatchable. Two was a crowded house. There were too many characters, they tried to cover too much ground, and they were trying to give everybody an arc. It just was muddled.”
Charlie Sheen did not work in the third installment of the film.
On being asked if he would consider the remake of the original film, the actor said,
“If it was brought back now, I think it would make more sense to do it as a television show on one of the streamers. Or we just leave it alone.”
The actor feels the movie will not fit in the present-day scenario and would be better off as a series.
Charlie Sheen was last seen on the show Ramble On, released in 2022.
