Tom Sizemore, who blew everyone away with his tense and uncompromising role in Saving Private Ryan 25 years ago is currently in critical condition. Sizemore’s presence in the industry has become a somewhat familiar sight and he has built a reputation for playing stiff dramatic roles in adrenaline-filled sensational projects including Heat, Black Hawk Down, and Natural Born Killers.
However, the actor now needs to channel that well-known onscreen energy with which he has evolved throughout his career in the industry and recuperate from his current critical stage as friends, family, and fans around the globe await some good news about his health and recovery.

Tom Sizemore is in Critical Condition Following an Aneurysm
On the 18th of February, Tom Sizemore suffered a brain aneurysm at 2 in the morning and fell unconscious. Emergency services rushed him to the hospital soon after and Sizemore has currently been placed in the Intensive Care Unit after his condition was declared critical. The 61-year-old’s manager, Charles Lago, has now released a statement to Fox News claiming:
“He is in the hospital. His family is aware of the situation and are hoping for the best. It is too early to know about a recovery situation as he is in critical condition under observation.”
The actor was recently involved in a promising sci-fi project, very different from the genres he has usually worked with in the past. The film, Impuratus, has already finished filming and Sizemore who has already seen an early cut of the project had been very enthusiastic about the final version. “I enjoyed the script. It is a terrific leading part. It was a period piece, which was interesting, and I really like the people that were involved,” he told Age of the Nerd.
Tom Sizemore: The Hollywood Tough Guy Through the Years
Tom Sizemore gained prominence in Hollywood in the early 90s with his role in Where Sleeping Dogs Lie. The characterization of a nervous man mistaken for a terrorist then went on to define his later years in the industry where he was typecast in hardass and indomitable roles in crime, mob, and action dramas. Soon films began pouring in throughout the following decade starring Sizemore in significant roles in Passenger 57, Striking Distance, Natural Born Killers, Heat, Saving Private Ryan, Witness to the Mob, and Witness Protection.

At the turn of the century, Tom Sizemore’s momentum had yet to encounter resistance as the actor snatched up roles in Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, Red, Born Killers, and more. His characteristic portrayal of mob bosses, enforcers, and criminals had then turned into more mellowed versions of tough and hardened roles. Sizemore has also come under fire in the past decade over allegations of sexual abuse of a minor on the sets of the 2005 film Born Killers, domestic violence, suspected battery, and possession of drugs. The charges of sexual misconduct were later dismissed by a Utah judge.
In recent years, the actor has been less frequent on the silver screen, and his latest project will witness him as a cynical detective gradually getting drawn into the mysticism of the supernatural and becoming infatuated with uncovering the truth after witnessing the death-bed confession of a Civil War veteran.
