In a candid interview, the Avengers: Endgame movie star once revealed that she underwent months-long gun training for her role in the titular film, claiming she didn’t want to make the same mistake as actor Mel Gibson made in his 1987 flick Lethal Weapon. She emphasized that in the movie, Gibson (who played Martin Riggs, an LAPD cop) appeared to have handled; his prop gun wrongly, which prompted her to learn and excel in her part.

The Godzilla movie star once revealed that she had undergone rigorous gun training for months for her part in Jeremy Renner starrer Wind River. Elizabeth Olsen claimed she didn’t want the audience to think she couldn’t handle the key props of her movies.
During her appearance on The Off Camera Show with Sam James, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star shared that she was stunned to know that the film director Taylor Sheridan considered her for a role claiming,
“I was like, how do you, why do you think I’d be great at this? Cause; he just wanted me to do it. He didn’t make a list, he was just like, ‘I want Elizabeth Olsen.’ So that was different for me, and it was really great. I got to train. I got to do the gun work for three months at least.”
The actress shares she was ready to train hard for her role as she played Jane Banner, an FBI agent in Wind River, and received three months of gun training for her part in the movie.
Elizabeth Olsen Claims She Trained Hard For Her Role To Avoid Making Mel Gibson’s Mistake
During her candid conversation, the actress shares an example of Mel Gibson’s role in the 1987 action comedy movie Lethal Weapon claiming that he was blinking his eyes while handling his prop gun in this flick, which pushed her to excel in her role.
“What I wanted was; to be confident enough holding a gun on camera that people watching wouldn’t be like, oh, she doesn’t know how to hold a gun. And my least favorite thing is watching people on camera, and you’re like, that’s not how you hold it properly. That’s not what you should be doing,” Olsen said.
She continued,
“He’s like the best shot, right? But he blinks every time he shoots the gun. Every time he shoots his gun, he’s blinking. And it bothers me so much when I watch Lethal Weapon now. Like, you’re blinking. If you’re a great shot, your eyes are gonna stay open. You’re not gonna blink. And so there are those kinds of things that you obsess over.”
Taylor Sheridan’s 2017 directorial Wind River is a neo-Western crime film that stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen in leading roles as FBI agents; who are on a mission to solve a murder on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.
