Considered by most to be the worst kept secret of the gaming industry right now, the long-rumoured Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater remake already seems to be making waves, before its somewhat official announcement during the PlayStation Showcase later this week.
Thanks to an exclusive from Insider Gaming, we may now have an answer to the question on every gamer’s lips; is the remake going to be a console exclusive?
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – Rumour after Rumour
Just last month it was widely reported that Konami and Sony had been in discussions regarding making the upcoming remake a console exclusive. Whilst the franchise has had an odd history of being console exclusive, then not, then console exclusive again and back to multi-console with it’s latest release, it seems the higher-ups at Sony wanted to take full control of the Metal Gear Solid franchise once more by snaring the remake as their own.

However, per reports it seems this may have been a pre-emptive rumour that has little to no evidence, as reports now suggest that the game is a multi-console release meaning more of us fans will be able to enjoy the remake once it hits consoles.
In a time where the ‘console wars’ seem to be finally coming to an end, in no large part thanks to how poorly Microsoft and Xbox have performed these last two generations, more gamers being able to play more games is only a good thing, and whilst console exclusives will never truly disappear, it is a nice thought knowing more of us will be able to experience the complicated and often ridiculous story involved with a Metal Gear Solid game.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – What do we know?
Bar a few rumours, however concrete they may be, we don’t 100% know anything of Metal Gear Solid :Snake Eater remake. Considered by many to be the best in the series – a lofty claim of a generally fantastically well-received franchise -, bringing the game into the modern gaming era is no bad thing, especially with the power of the PS5, PC and Xbox Series X to be used, if Insider Gaming’s report is to be believed.
With one of the original voice actor’s recent Twitter activity seemingly confirming – or at least playing with fans of the game – that the remake is well into production, it seems we’ll only be waiting a few more days to find out some more information.
Unfortunately, unless Konami have managed to keep this under wraps for a while, which is somewhat unlikely considering their constant leaks lately, then we’re going to be waiting a while to experience the best Metal Gear Solid game in next gen glory. It is worth saying though, that many a fan will wait patiently for the remake, if for no other reason than to see hours worth of Naked Snake and Big Boss cinematics. Who else is ready to fight The End again?
