“Is it because he couldn’t keep his life together?”: Friends Star Matthew Perry Gets Obliterated Online for Trashing Keanu Reeves, Fans Remind Forgotten Actor About Reeves’ Tragic Life

Keanu Reeves and Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry has been a beloved actor by multiple generations of people for his role as Chandler Bing in F.R.I.E.N.D.S (1994-2004). Although the American sitcom manages to pull younger audiences to this day, its actors, however, do not find themselves much fame.

In his new memoir titled Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Matthew Perry randomly blasts Keanu Reeves while mourning the loss of Heath Ledger. This has created a bad image for the F.R.I.E.N.D.S actor as he was a known drug abuser.

During one such segment of the book, Variety picked up a paragraph where Matthew Perry mourned the death of Heath Ledger and River Phoenix but asked why was Keanu Reeves still alive.

“River was a beautiful man, inside and out– too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the real talented guys who go down. Why is it that original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us? River was a better actor than me. I was funnier. But I certainly held my own in our scenes–no small feat when I look back decades later.”

The 17 Again actor also stated a line wherein he recalled punching a hole in Jennifer Aniston’s green room when he found out about Chris Farley’s death due to OD. The next sentence in the book goes along the lines of “Keanu Reeves walks among us.”

The people were not so hung up on their beloved actor once Keanu Reeves, the nicest man imaginable was hurled at by these hurtful comments by Matthew Perry. Following a not-so-successful career, after F.R.I.E.N.D.S ended in 2004, the people feel that this was Matthew Perry’s way of taking revenge on other successful actors.

Although Matthew Perry did have his fair share of troubles with opioid addictions, he isn’t the only actor that has suffered. Keanu Reeves’s past has been filled with nothing but tragedies and yet the actor continues to smile to this day and help every person available in any way he can.

Keanu Reeves’s father left the family when The Matrix actor was 3 years old. Following the success of The Matrix, Keanu Reeves married Jennifer Syme but tragedy struck when their stillborn child was delivered in 1999. Following their split, the duo met in 2001 for a brunch as they had maintained close relations since the stillbirth. The next day, Jennifer Syme was found dead as her car slammed into a trio of parked cars.

The reason for the spite between Matthew Perry and Keanu Reeves is not known but it is in no way sensible to treat an actor in Hollywood with such hurtful sentiments.

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry will be available to purchase from 1st November 2022. F.R.I.E.N.D.S is available to stream on HBO Max.
