The stars worked together for one of Christopher Nolan’s classics, Interstellar. The duo shares a great friendship over the years and loves to mimic each other.

The two Hollywood stars spent time together on the set of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. It was during that time they became experts in each other’s impressions.

Damon spoke about McConaughey’s excellent impression of him while promoting his film Stillwater, in an interview with Dan Patrick. The actor first did an impression of The Dallas Buyers Club star. He recalled,

“When we did Interstellar together, he was like, ‘You do this impression of me,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I just found out that my voice could sound like yours if I just dropped down a little bit and went south.’ And I’m like, ‘If you come up and go north, you’ll get me perfectly.’”

Matthew McConaughey and Matt Damon are great pals and have worked together in one more film, Glory Daze, in 1995.

Matt Damon thinks Matthew McConaughey can fool his wife over a call

After Damon did an impression of McConaughey, the latter did an impression of Damon. The Departed stars were amazed by his accent and started crying due to excessive laughter. He recalled,

“And he started doing it, we were in a van in Iceland and I was crying, because he’s like, perfect. But he was like, ‘I need a catchphrase for you.’ Cause I would do like, ‘Hey, I’m going to take my shirt off [Texas accent].’ … We gotta come up with a catchphrase for Matthew, and then you can hear it.”

On being asked in the interview if McConaughey’s impression can trick Matt Damon’s wife, the Oscar-winning actor was doubtful. He said,

“We have a similar vocal quality … if we aim at it,” Damon said. “I’m sure he could [fool my wife] over the phone.”

Matt Damon is married to Luciana Barroso, who is the mother of his three daughters. The couple has been married for 18 years.
