Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen, much like other stars, has her career put on hold in light of the ongoing writers and actors strike. The writer’s strike, which has crossed over 100 days has put major studios like Marvel, DC, etc. on a standstill. With no end in sight, multiple shows and movies have been delayed or stopped indefinitely.
Among these circumstances, rumors and speculations regarding future projects don’t seem to end. Meanwhile, fans continue to fuel the fire of these rumors, campaigning for their favorites and demanding whether such rumors hold any truth or not. Even Elizabeth Olsen’s Marvel co-star had to quench these rumors.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Marvel Co-star Pleads Fans To Stop
Julin Hilliard made his Marvel debut as Billy Maximoff, Elizabeth Olsen‘s on-screen son in the popular MCU series WandaVision. His next stint as the speculated future Avenger came in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Since then, his character Wiccan has been part of several speculations and rumors.
Recently it was rumored that Julian Hilliard might return as Wiccan in a Marvel spin-off series based solely on his character and origin story. It was even reported to be ongoing development until the writers’ and actors’ strikes shut down the entire Hollywood.
Fans have since been persistent and eager for more information, with many of them asking Hilliad to comment. In a recent X (previously Twitter) update, the young actor asked fans to stop speculating and respect the ongoing strikes.
“I’m seeing my picture all over the place about this. I’m on strike plus, I adore writers too much, just stop #solidarity #SAGAFTRAstrike #StrongerTogether #SAGAFTRAstrong”
While numerous actors and actresses have shown solidarity with the cause, Hilliard’s support comes along with other Marvel actors who have from the start supported the fair wage fight.
Strikes Delay Future Marvel Projects
Julian Hilliard’s comments about the potential spin-off are a wake-up call for fans about how serious the ongoing situation is and how important the writers’ and actors’ strikes are. With no end in sight and despite Kevin Feige‘s comments about a new agreement to resume work, Marvel’s Phase 5 and Phase 6 have inevitably moved farther away.
With Deadpool 3 the latest one to be delayed and moved back to May 2024, it is possible that the speculated WandaVision Wiccan spin-off might be pushed further away or even canceled to make way for major projects in the franchise. This can seriously disturb the carefully crafted storylines and might even require major edits.
WandaVision can be streamed on Disney+.
