With every entry in his Mission: Impossible franchise, Tom Cruise has been elevating the level of his stunts and is not looking to stop anytime soon. Following the actor’s unreal dedication toward performing high-risk stunts, the actor has encountered his fair share of setbacks in the process. But despite sustaining several blows while performing numerous stunts, the actor hasn’t let the injuries get the better of him.
And following the dedication of the actor towards his stunts did manage to leave his costar, Henry Cavill in complete awe, who later opened up about his experience with the most fearless actor.
Henry Cavill was left in awe by Tom Cruise’s commitment
During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Henry Cavill opened up about his fascination with Tom Cruise’s commitment to the craft. While talking about his experience in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Cavill joked about Cruise’s fearless attitude toward his stunts by stating that he isn’t sure if the Top Gun star ever bleeds.
The Man of Steel star further shared a situation about how Tom Cruise managed to overcome a serious ankle injury despite being advised by doctors that he would not be able to run again. Cavill said,
“I’m not sure he bleeds. He actually-when he broke his ankle on set…He was told immediately by doctors, who said you won’t be able to use it or put weight properly on it until like six months from now. And he said, okay, that’s not okay, that’s not going to work and you may never run again…six weeks later he was running again.”
The news of the Top Gun star breaking his ankle did mage to make headlines at the time but the reason it is still talked about to this day was for the actor’s reaction towards the brutal injury.
Tom Cruise didn’t care about breaking his ankle during Mission: Impossible – Fallout
Despite enduring a serious injury, which did put a brief pause on the production of Mission: Impossible 6, the actor’s reaction to the injury startled everyone. While filming a chase sequence, where Cruise would jump off a building, things would go south after he twisted his ankle and broke it in the process. But despite the magnitude of the injury, the actor’s initial question about the situation was if the cameraman was able to get the shot. Cruise would later open up about the experience, and he went on to state,
“First two takes I went in quite hard, and it knocks the wind out of you, but it looks cool so I was like, ‘alright.’… Put my foot out literally for a split second to try to soften the impact just a hair. I looked down…I crawled over the wall just to get the past camera because I knew this is the take.”
Despite sustaining a serious blow during the last entry in the franchise, this hasn’t stopped Tom Cruise from taking on more challenges in his upcoming Mission: Impossible 7. The actor has now performed one of his most dangerous stunts to date for the upcoming entry in the franchise, which has garnered immense hype around the movie.
