The two first starred together in the action-blockbuster Speed, and ever since fans have been wanting them to get together on-screen since both are in happy relationships with their respective partners. Fans finally got a chance to see the two again in the romantic movie The Lake House.
The $350 million movie was a surprise as nobody including Sandra Bullock, expected them to work together in a fantasy romance film. Hence, when Bullock was first offered the movie, she was hesitant to accept the role.
Sandra Bullock Was Not Ready To Do A Romantic Film With Keanu Reeves
When Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves first starred together in Speed, their on-screen chemistry was remarkable. And hence, people speculated that they might end up dating. However, that opportunity never came and years went by. But in 2006, when news hit of Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves starring in a romantic film The Lake House, fans could not hold back their joy.
However, it was this movie that The Proposal actress was not inclined to do.
“It came out of nowhere. It came at us from two different directions. It was at a strange time and I was like, ‘I’m not ready to do this and I read it and I went wow!’ Actually, I found out about it through another director of mine, Paul Haggis, who said, ‘You should read this, it’s brilliant.’”
Despite the initial hesitation, Bullock ended up doing the movie and enjoyed working intimately with Keanu Reeves.
“But when we had to be together, we had to be together in the most intimate of ways. I think I got to see his history and what he has experienced these past 10 years, and who he is as now as a man, just as good as when I first met him, but that much more open.”
Even the Matrix star spoke up about how it was wonderful working with his good friend and reuniting after all these years.
Sandra Bullock And Keanu Reeves Could Have Been A Couple
Sandra Bullock in 2018 revealed she had a huge crush on her co-star Keanu Reeves while they were working together in their iconic movie Speed. And some time later Reeves too came forward to reveal that he too had a crush on her. Despite the attraction, the two preferred to keep things professional and never confessed. Bullock also mentioned how she did not want their friendship to suffer.
Had they chosen to get together, Bullock and Reeves would have been one of the most iconic couples in Hollywood ever. But both chose to value their friendship more than their fondness for each other. Even when working in The Lake House, their chemistry was undeniable, and fans can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Bullock was not married at that time.
